CWCID Featured on NY1 and BronxNet

CWCID's New York City Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) in Manhattan was recently highlighted in two local media outlets.

On NY1, Program Manager Milly Dubouchet explains how FEC counselors help clients to save, correct their credit report or pay off debt. The video also shows Assistant Manager Christyne Angulo working with a client during a counseling session. To view the piece, please click here.

On BronxNet's OPEN with host Bob Lee, Angulo appears with Clarence Stanley, the Director of Lehman College's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and discusses CWCID's services and its collaboration with Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union, a partner of the SBDC. The NYC Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) in Manhattan: CWCID is a lead partner in New York City's Financial Empowerment Centers (FEC) initiative. CWCID operates seven FEC sites as part of the New York City Office of Financial Empowerment's citywide network of centers providing financial education and support in low-income communities. CWCID is connected to the City's 311 information line, and New Yorkers with urgent financial issues are referred to our FEC sites where CWCID's trained financial counselors are delivering free one-on-one financial counseling and our signature Getting Ahead course.

CWCID's FEC sites include Asian Americans for Equality, Lower East Side Peoples' Federal Credit Union, Midtown Community Court, Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation, SEEDCO's Workforce 1 Center, and Neighborhood Housing Services sites in Midtown Manhattan and the South Bronx. For more information, visit the New York City Office of Financial Empowerment's website on the Financial Empowerment Centers.

Credit Where Credit Is Due empowers low-income people to become productive participants in the mainstream economy through a unique model that works. We deliver financial education programs in partnership with leading nonprofit and government agencies across New York City. And we offer these services in tandem with access to safe, affordable financial services at Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union, the community development credit union that we chartered in 1997, and a network of CDCUs around the city.
