The Role of Credit Where Credit Is Due

Credit Where Credit Is Due is the 501(c)3 nonprofit which was incorporated in 1994 as the most effective way to support the organizing effort and raise the capital to launch Neighborhood Trust. Today, both organizations remain in lock-step, pursuing a joint mission of financial empowerment, with a shared strategic plan and management team.

CWCID serves as Neighborhood Trust's financial support, pursuing the necessary resources to strengthening the credit union's financial position via absorbing expenses and providing grants. Due to the role of CWCID, Neighborhood Trust is unusually equipped to serve the needs of the low-income because we are prepared to supplement the credit union's earned revenue with grants to subsidize our mission-related costs. These costs include targeted savings and loan products and transactional services, delivered with intensive financial education, counseling and supports, to assist an unbanked person to move beyond crisis mode and begin planning for her or his future.
